Accredited peer mentoring service for individuals with criminal convictions

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

THE CROSSROADS TRUST

The Crossroads Trust is a new outreach service supporting ex-offenders being released to the local community. The Crossroads Trust has a focus on helping low risk offenders. The service provides information, advice, signposting and practical support to clients with criminal records many of whom have received custodial or community based sentences. We offer a mentoring service helping clients to access local services and promote social inclusion to help them make a positive contribution to society. Many of our clients will have complex problems including mental health and substance misuse issues. Literacy and numeracy is also an issue for many and support is needed with completing benefit applications, job searches, and preparing for job interviews.

From their research and focus groups clients have told the Trust that many ex-offenders are in urgent need of a helping hand especially following release from prison. Potential clients need to know what help and support is available to them to help them become independent and make a positive contribution to society.

OUR PROJECTS

This project is aimed at building the clients self-esteem and supports the client to achieve independence and economic well being. Facilitating meaningful employment opportunities in appropriate jobs.  Promote physical and emotional well being and where appropriate provide help to obtain satisfactory ID and a bank account.

This project is a peer mentoring initiative. Providing motivated mentors to guide, support and inspire law abiding citizens with criminal records to develop the attitudes and skills that will help them become successful in their personal lives. To help alleviate the risk of social exclusion and support them to make a positive contribution to society

This project aims to improve or maintain clients physical wellbeing.  The Crossroads Trust will help to assess and implement a fitness plan.  Monitor and evaluate its effectiveness,  working with the client to encourage positive thinking through exercise and sporting activities thus supporting the client’s transition into the community.

This project provides clean, age appropriate clothing for those in need upon release from prison or for interviews or employment.
